Canadian Tire: Tire Warranty

Just found out that when you buy a tire at Canadian Tire (I assume it's the same elsewhere?), only the outer part of the tire (the part that makes contact with the ground) is covered by warranty (if you want more coverage you have to pay extra). If the inner part of the tire is damaged, then it's tough luck. I found out the hard way, when my car got a flat tire.
