Samsung 860 EVO SSD Review

0

My old Asus laptop was really getting too slow after I updated it to Windows 10 a couple of years ago, so I decided to throw in the well-regarded Samsung 860 EVO Solid State Drive (SSD) and see if it could work some magic. After reading many other people's reviews, I was hopeful that the switch to an SSD would give it a nice boost in terms of responsiveness.

In my experience, it definitely did help make it into a usable laptop again (also re-installed the OS). Start up times are still surprisingly slow though...It takes 2 mins for it to boot up. I was expecting something faster than that, but maybe the machine is just too old and slow at this point. Having said that, once it boots up, web browsing and playing Youtube videos is pretty acceptable, so it still fills the role as a secondary portable computer when I need it. If I can squeeze a couple of more years out of it, then mission accomplished!
