LG LDA-530 Review

Just picked up the player at Future Shop, brought it home and ripped open the box in a manner rivalling five-year olds opening their birthday presents. As expected, I put it through the usual battery of tests whenever you get a new toy to play with :)

The LG LDA-530 pretty much played everything as advertised: DVDs, DVD back-ups, DivX (.mpg and .avi) files, digital photos, and music CDs (although it was unable to read one of my photo CDs, there seems to be a limit of 650 files it can read...don't ask me why this limit is there). I don't have any mp3s on disc lying around to test, but it's not what I was looking forward to anyways.

Out of the box it assumes you have a 16:9 widescreen televison, so my Gladiator DVD looked stretched...so I went into the menu to see if I could change it. Thankfully, the menus are well designed and intuitive, so it didn't take me long to find and change the setting. From what I've seen so far, it's a pretty sweet DVD player at a great low price, no complaints here.
