D-Link DIR-822 AC1200 Wireless Router Review

2
Picked up the D-Link DIR-822 AC1200 Wireless Router up during Boxing week for 50% off (normally $90), and at that price I can say that the range and signal strength is pretty solid for a 1 bedroom apartment. It does make it easier to get a stronger signal from another room versus the last entry-level D-Link router I purchased. It's great to be able to just plug it in and start to use it right out of the box with a network name and password ready to use. The real test is to see how long this will last, but no complaints so far.

Router Specs:
  • Fast transfer speeds of up to 300Mbps (2.4GHz) + 867Mbps (5GHz)
  • 4 High-Gain Antennas and MIMO technology combine for enhanced Wi-Fi coverage in and around your home
  • 4 Fast Ethernet ports deliver fast wired performance
  • Simultaneous dual band makes your HD streaming and online gaming smoother with less interference

  1. Noticed the router's connectivity seems to "go dead" a couple of times a day. It's not a huge deal as seems to "fix" itself after about 30 seconds or so (does not require a reset), but if you are an online gamer those times can be infuriating.

  2. Anyone who is thinking about picking this router up on Boxing Day this year...The issue mentioned earlier still occurs; minor, but annoying enough that I'd think twice about it, even if it's on sale.
