My old Asus laptop still works, but it cannot play any games at this point. I read enough reviews to settle on the Lenovo Legion 5 Gen10 Gaming Laptop over the holiday break from the Lenovo web site. After spending time with it, here's a quick look at the things I personally cared about and how it measured up.
Design & Build
The Legion 5 Gen 10 AMD Laptop looks pretty good. Physically, it’s a clean, modern device without trying too hard and a reasonable weight. I'm using it mostly at home and not moving it much (so it didn't need to be super light or thin for me), but seems a reasonable size to throw it into a bag when needed.
OLED Display
The OLED screen is smooth. Fast-moving content—like hockey games or tennis footage—looks great, with no weird trailing or ghosting. I was worried at first when I saw the glossy finish in person, but once the screen is on, it’s really not an issue. To be fair, I don’t use it outdoors, so outdoor sunlight reflection isn’t something I really have too much worry about.
Noise
It’s not very noisy, even under moderate load. Fan noise stays controlled and never gets into “jet engine” territory.
General Performance
Overall performance feels strong and snappy. One thing I did notice: Windows 11 RAM usage is noticeably higher compared to a similar Windows 10 machine. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something I noticed...Windows 11 just eats more memory by default.
